PPBF: A Review of Painting Pepette by Linda Ravin Lodding
REVIEW BY: Lynne Marie
TITLE: Painting Pepette
AUTHOR: Linda Ravin Lodding
ILLUSTRATOR: Claire Fletcher
PUBLISHER: Little Bee Books/Bonnier
PUBLICATION DATE: June, 2016
SNIPPET:
Josette Babett, and her rabbit, Pepette, lived at #9 Rue Laffette, Paris.
REVIEW: First, there's a captivating cover! Beyond, lies an absolutely adorable story of a little girl searching to find the perfect painter for a portrait of her beloved rabbit to hang in the grand room. This delightful journey takes the reader through the Monmartre streets of 1920s Paris and showcases diverse artistic points of view. Showcased are the styles of Pablo Picasso, Salvador Dali, Marc Chagall and Henri Matisse. Despite brilliant interpretations by these artists, Josette must discover the style which best captures Pepette's personality and exterior.
How did I love this book? Let me count the ways. Claire Fletcher's amazing Art. Linda Ravin Lodding's sweet and satsifying Story. Character(s). Setting, Tone. Take away value. Historical Information. Theme. Message.
Rating: 5/5 Ps - a Perfect Score!
